Booneville, KY – Claude Callahan, 92, of Route 2, passed away Wednesday,
December 26, 2007 at his residence, suddenly. He attended Booneville Baptist Church.
He was a veteran of World War II and a retired school teacher. Born in Owsley County
on August 24, 1915, he was the son of the late Isaac "Ida" and Sena White Callahan. Mr. Callahan
is survived by his wife, Gladys (Callahan) Callahan of Route 2, Booneville, KY; a son,
Ronnie (& Ruby Nell) Callahan; two daughters, Joyce (& Thomas E.) Campbell and Sandy
(& Elijah) King, all of Booneville. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Todd
(& Kimberly) Campbell, Ronnie Jr. Callahan, Jennifer L. (& James) Barrett and Jeff
Callahan, all of Booneville. Eight great grandchildren, Kelsey, Kaylee, Kendal & Kamryn
Campbell, Kailynn Bowling, James Elijah Barrett, all of Booneville, KY and Kenedi & Jeffery

Booneville, KY E. Faye Callahan, 71, passed away Thursday, September
13, 2007, at St. Joseph East in Lexington, Ky. Faye was born March 25, 1936, in Owsley
County, KY, to the late Vincie and Ida Prichard Cornett. She was a homemaker, and
especially enjoyed crocheting, bird watching, and donating to Disabled Veterans and Feed
the Children Organizations. Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Coomer of Booneville,
KY and Angel (& Kevin) McVaugh of Blossburg, PA; two brothers; three sisters; four
grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Along with
her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Darren Caudill; a brother, Creed Cornett; a

Vincent, KY – Frank J. Callahan, 55, passed away June 3, 2008 at St. Joseph
East, Lexington, KY after a long illness. He was a Baptist. Born on December 30, 1952,

Ricetown, KY – Oscar Callahan, 75, of Lower Wolfe Creek Road,
husband of Ida Marshall Callahan, passed away on July 28, 2006 at the Jewish Hospital
in Louisville, Kentucky after a long illness. Mr. Callahan was a retired farmer and
a member of the Baptist Church. He was born on December 1, 1930 in Owsley County, the
son of the late Felix and Nancy Simpson Callahan. He is survived by his wife, Ida;
two sons, Gordon (& Emma) Callahan, Joe (& Michelle) Callahan, both of Ricetown,
Kentucky; two daughters, Judy Morris of Booneville, Kentucky and Evelyn (& J. C.)
Gross of Ricetown, Kentucky. 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his parents; a son; Scott Callahan and a brother, Henry Callahan.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2006 at the Searcy and Strong
Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Marshall and Rev. Joe Powlas officiating. Visitation was
held from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Burial in the Esau-

Booneville, KY – Sarah Ball Callahan, 93, Owsley County Health Care Center,
passed away on April 26, 2008 at the OCHCC after a long illness. She was a homemaker
and a member of the Baptist Church. She was born in Owsley County, KY on February 23,
1915 to Luther and Laura Callahan Madden and was the widow of Herman Ball and Frank
Callahan. She is survived by a son, Mendle Ball of Owsley County and a daughter, Lola
Southard of London, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren and two great,
great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Irene Ball and Eva
Ball Edwards; and a son, Richard Ball. Funeral services at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April
29, 2008 at the Searcy and Strong Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Combs officiating.

Booneville, KY – Clarence Campbell, 63, widower of Edna Bishop
Campbell, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2006 at the Baptist Regional Hospital in Corbin,
Kentucky. Clarence was born November 21, 1942, in Owsley County, Kentucky to the late
Hargis and Dora Dean Campbell. He was a railroad employee for the Southeast Coal Wash,
a farmer, enjoyed fox hunting, and attended the Fish Creek Baptist Church. Survivors
include two sons, Fredrick Anthony Campbell of Michigan and Triston Hargis Campbell of
Booneville, Kentucky; two daughters, Tammy Spurlock of McKee, Kentucky and Bridget
Harris of Richmond, Kentucky; six grandchildren; one great grandchild. Also surviving
are two brothers, Jimmy Campbell of Warsaw, Kentucky and Dennis Campbell of Booneville,
Kentucky; three sisters, Bethel Neeley and Mildred Smith, both of Booneville, Kentucky
and Doris Lee of Lily, Kentucky. Along with his wife and parents, he was preceded in
death by a son, Ronnie Dennis Campbell; and a sister, Shirley Mae Legerman. Funeral
services were held on Wednesday, July 28 (26), 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at the Booneville

Jackson, MI – Moedell Campbell, 87, was born May 10, 1920 in Booneville,
KY and died May 19, 2008. Moedell was the daughter of Judge A. M. and Edna Bell.
She is survived by her sisters, Viginia (& Tom) Pierson, Dorothy Bell, Ruby (& Jake)
Vail, Dessie (& Junior) Bowling, Ruth Bell, Anna Lee (& Jerry) Bacon; brother, Clyde,
Clarence “ Buck” and Junior (Imogene) Bell; her sons, Eugene (& Pricilla), Donald
(Christa) and Ronald Campbell; her grandchildren, Dennis (Jenny Esno), Denise Cambpell,
Veronika (Jaro Horvath) and Phillip (Autumn) Campbell, Jenny (Terry) LeFere; great
grandchildren, James Campbell, Eva Campbell, Brooke and Paige LeFere; other close family
in Jackson are Leona and Leola and families wan Tony and D. J. Adams. She has many nieces,
nephew and relatives in other states. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers,
Paul and Eldon. Moedell was a devoted member of the Jackson Seventh Day Adventist Church
and actively involved in the community service part. She made many trips into the
Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky to help the needy. She owned and operated a
nursing facility and care home in Jackson for many years. Moedell was a believer in
prayer and supported the 700 Club. She was a firm believer that you should love your
Lord first and then your neighbor (Matthew 22:37-9). I you knew Moedell you would know
her favorite Bible verse was Acts 20:35 - - “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Some of her favorite hymns were “Just As I Am”, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Sweet Hour of
Prayer”. She loved to fix big meals for family gatherings and enjoyed the company of her
family, friends and anyone who happened to come by. Her life made the world a better place.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 11:30 a.m.
Burial at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday and Wednesday, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Those

Thursday, June 29, 2006 in Berea, Kentucky after a long illness. Bob was born in
Winchester, Kentucky on April 9, 1939, to the late Joe Lester Campbell and Mildred Cecil
Campbell Rose. He was a U. S. Navy Veteran, a retired U. S. Postmaster of Lerose,
Kentucky and a member of the Booneville Presbyterian Church. He also was a Kentucky
Colonel and a member of the Booneville Masonic Lodge # 939. He is survived by his wife,
Joyce Arnold Campbell of Berea, Kentucky; two sons, Robert Wendell (& Jessica) Campbell,
Jr. and William Keith (& Jamie) Campbell; a daughter, Janet Rene (& Ronnie) Bowman, all
of Booneville, Kentucky; and four grandchildren. Also surviving are his three brothers,
Tom, Kenny and Steve Campbell all of Booneville, Kentucky; three sisters, Jane Herald of

Willie Caudill, 67, of North Street, Richmond, died Saturday evening, July 7, 2001, at
Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 2, 1933, in Breathitt County,
Kentucky; the son of the late Pryse and Elva Reynolds Caudill. Mr. Caudill was a retired
Groundskeeping Department Foreman for Eastern Kentucky University and a member of the
Baptist Faith. He is survived by his wife, Dora Little Caudill; two daughters, Lillie

Booneville, KY – Jenny Bell Chandler, 85, of Route 1, passed away suddenly at
her residence on March 7, 2006. She was a homemaker, and the widow of John Chandler.
An Owsley County native, she was born on August 23, 1920, to the late Sam and Easter
McIntosh Riley. She is survived by five daughters, Ethel Sebastian of Booneville,
Kentucky, Juanita Bishop of Chicago, Illinois, Betty Giles of Edinburg, Indiana,
Dorothy Edwards of Chicago, Illinois and Patty Chandler of Booneville, Kentucky;
five sons, Fred Chandler and Page Chandler of Bennington, Indiana, Charlie Chandler,
Booneville, Kentucky, Gary Chandler of Milton, Indiana and Larry Chandler also of
Booneville, Kentucky. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 30 great

was born January 8, 1917, in Menifee County, KY to the late Johnny and Lula Jones
Williams. She was a homemaker and a member of the Beattyville Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints. Survivors include two daughters, Imogene Katzenmaier (Hamp Turner,

Booneville, KY - Michael Gene Cole, 27 of Sugar Road, passed away Saturday, January 13,
2007, at his residence. Michael was born November 8, 1979 in Richmond, Ky, to Tiena
Williams and Earl Gene Cole both of Booneville, KY. He was an employee for the Booneville
Sentinel, a volunteer for the Booneville Senior Citizens, and attended the Church of God.
Along with his parents, he survived by a brother, Brack Dustin Booth and a sister, April
Valerie Rose Smith and paternal grandmother, Mildred Smith, all of Booneville, KY: numerous
aunts and uncles; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his
maternal grandparents, Wilburn and Dorothy Williams; and paternal grandfather, Raleigh Cole.

Coleman, Violet V.
McLouth, KS – Violet V. Coleman, 95, of McLouth, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at
the Jefferson County Geriatric Center, Winchester, Kansas. She was born September 29, 1910
in Booneville, Kentucky, the daughter of Daniel Boone and Ida Mary Nease Dean. Violet
graduated from Union College, Barbourville, Kentucky in 1934. She was a school teacher and
retired in 1975. She then worked as a caretaker at the Joplin Nursing Home in McLouth for 14
years. She belonged to the McLouth United Methodist Church. She was married to Joseph Coleman.
He preceded her in death in 1966. Other survivors include a daughter, Ida Mae Hehn, McLouth,
Kansas; a sister, Ruth Ryan, Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren;
and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur Dean,
Samuel Dean and Bill Dean and a sister, Fannie Fakonan. Graveside services were held at 2:00
p.m., Monday, April 17, 2006, at Mt. Sidney Cemetery, Liewood, Kansas. She will lie in state
Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, at Barnett Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Memorial

Combs, Betty Porter
Betty Porter Combs, 75, Rice Station Road, in Irvine, widow of Palmer Combs, died Friday,
August 2, 2002, at Irvine Health and Rehab Center after a long illness. She was a native
of Owsley County, a daughter of the late Albert and Bertie Mays Porter. Mrs. Combs was a
member of the Cow Creek Baptist Church and a retired employee of the Irvine Health and
Rehab Center. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Elmo, Eldon and Joe Porter
and a sister Delma Porter Wolfe. Survivors include eight children; Gary Dale (Virginia)
Combs of Irvine, Sharon Lee Cheatham of Irvine, Kenneth Albert (Vada) Combs of Irvine,
Jobie (Mary Jo) Combs of Irvine, Barry Wayne (Judy) Combs of Irvine, Kevin Jay Combs of
Richmond, Keith Ray (Brenda) Combs of Waco, Karen Kay (Richard) Henry of Irvine; 3
brothers; Leland Porter of Lexington, Ralph Porter of Elizabethtown and Jack Porter of
Cincinnati; 2 sisters Euphema Bradley of New Port Richey, FL, and Helen Cannaday of
Camden, SC, fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and
nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, August 5, 2002 at Lewis Funeral
Home in Irvine with Rev. Joe Lahrmer. Burial will follow New Zion Cemetery in Jackson

Combs, Ella Rea Stevens
Ella Rea Stevens Combs, Age 71, of Franklin, OH died March 17, 2008 at Franklin Ridge.
Ella was born in Booneville, KY on September 21, 1936 to Charlie and Laura (Barrett)
Stevens. She was a member of the Baptist Tabernacle in Carlisle for many years. Her
parents and her husband Kelly C. Combs preceded Ella in death. Ella is survived by a
son, Al Combs and wife Julie; three daughters, Marlene Temple and husband Larry, Helen
Thomas and husband Wayne, and Mary Ann Sanders; two brothers, Charles Stevens and J.C.
Stevens; three sisters, Jeanie Abney, Nannie Abney, and Ruby Baker; seven grandchildren
John Temple, Tiffany Miller, Heath Thomas, Dustin Thomas, Cassie Sanders, Ethan and Tobin
Kashdan-Combs; and four great grandchildren, Tyler, Matthew, Hailey, and Morgan. Funeral
services will be March 21, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home (1357 E. 2nd Street,

Combs, Eugene
Eugene Combs, Age 81, of Franklin, OH died September 30, 2007 at Franklin Ridge. Eugene
was born in Owsley County, KY on February 7, 1926 to Lewis and Jane (Thompson) Combs. He
was employed as a paper bailer with Miami Coating Mill in Franklin for 35 years. Eugene
was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers Claude, Leroy, Rollie, Kelly, Clyde,
and Dale Combs; and a sister Ruby Ledford. He is survived by a son Gene Combs of Franklin,
OH; a brother Dallas Combs of KY; a sister Lola Clark of Franklin; and a sisiter-in-law
Phyllis Jean Combs Murphy of Franklin. The family would like to give a special thank you
to Franklin Ridge for all the love and care given to Eugene. Funeral services are October

Booneville, KY – Paul Combs, 44, passed away Monday, March 13, 2006, at the
Kentucky River Medical Center at Jackson, Kentucky. He was born September 19, 1961,
in Manchester, Ohio, to the late Jim Thornton and Rebecca Marshall Combs. He was a
farmer. Survivors are two sisters, Pamela Hurdle and Lisa Abner, both of Booneville,
Kentucky; and a host of relatives and friends. Along with his parents, he was preceded
in death by two brothers, Claude and Bob Combs; three sisters, Diane Rose, Billie Jean
and Janet; and two nephews. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 15, 2006,

Booneville, KY – Rosa Lee Combs, 88, of Route 2, widow of Hayden Combs, Sr.,
passed away Monday, April 24, 2006, at the Manchester Memorial Hospital in
Manchester, Kentucky. Mrs. Combs was born June 10, 1917, in Owsley County,
Kentucky, to the late Anderson and Mary Elizabeth Combs Taylor. She was a
homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons,
Hayden Jr. (& Patsy) Combs and Stanley Glenn Combs, both of Booneville, Kentucky;
four daughters, Lou Bernice (& Bill) Day of Cleveland, Ohio, Louise (&' Jerry) Steele
of Bear, Delaware, Shirley (& Estill) Farmer of Nicholasville, Kentucky and Carol
(& Kenneth) Dean of Booneville, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren;
and a host of relatives and friends. Along with her parents and her husband, she was

Ricetown, KY – Ruby R. Combs, 77, wife of Joseph Combs, Jr., of HC 64, passed away on
Monday, December 25, 2006 at the Kentucky River Medical Center, Jackson, KY after a long
illness. She was a homemaker. An Owsley County native, she was born on October 3, 1929
to the late Sam Riley and Easter McIntosh Riley. She is survived by her husband of 61
years, Joseph Combs, Jr. of Ricetown, Kentucky; three daughters, Geraldine (& Wilburn)
Bowling, Christine (& Cecil) Johnson, both of Ricetown, Kentucky and Debra (& Bradley)
Turner of Booneville; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving
are seven sisters, Louise Harris, Ricetown, KY; Helen Gabbard, Della Roberts, Georgia
McIntosh, Beulah Helton, all of Booneville, KY, Delsie Roberts, Polly Herald, both of
Austin, Indiana; and two brothers, Mike Riley of Booneville, KY and Elmer Riley of Waco,

Ruth Evans Combs, 92, widow of Willard Blakely Combs, with whom she was married for 63
years, died peacefully at her home, Wed, Sep 12, 2007. Born in Booneville, KY, she was
a daughter of the late Elmer and Bertie Hall Evans, and had resided in Lexington since
1964. A member of Centenary United Methodist Church, she was a former beautician and
retired sales clerk with Embry's. She is survived by her daughter, Sherryl (John)
Combs Davis, Pikeville, KY; a brother and sisters, Donnie Evans, Wilma E. Marshall
and Ruby E. Morgan, all of Booneville; as well as two grandchildren, John Evans Lockhart

Booneville, KY – Tena June Combs, 55, wife of David, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2007,
at the University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville, TN. Tena was born May 27, 1952, in
Columbus, IN, to Allan C. & Rosaline Asberry Birdwell of Hermitage Springs, TN. She was a
cook for the Owsley County Senior Citizens, a homemaker, and a member of the Eastern Star
Chapter 106 and the Elk Lick Baptist Church. Along with her parents and her husband of 37
years, she is survived by a son, Jason (& Natasha) Combs, and a grandson, Connor Combs, all
of Richmond, KY; a brother, Terry Birdwell of Indianapolis, IN; and a host of relatives and
friends. Funeral services were held Sunday, November 11, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Booneville
Funeral Home, with Rev. Harold Becknell and Rev. Robert Combs officiating. Visitation was held

Lexington, KY – Willard Blakely Combs, 91, formerly of Booneville, husband of Ruth Evans
Combs, died Friday, October 6, 2006, at his residence in Lexington. He was a retired
Salesman with Dawahare’s, born in Breathitt County, Kentucky, son of the late Merida and
Fanny Hollon Combs. He was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church, a Master
Mason and he served with the U. S. Army during World War II. Surviving besides his wife
of 63 years, are his daughter, Sherryl Combs (& John) Davis of Pikeville, Kentucky; his
sister, Dorothy Combs of Lexington; his brother, DeCoursey Combs of Anchorage, Kentucky;
and his two grandchildren, John Evans Lockhart Davis and Charles Hickman Combs Davis,
both of Pikeville. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the W. R.

Booneville, KY – William Harold Combs, 77, passed away at his residence on
Saturday, January 15, 2005 after a 2 month illness. He was a member of the Booneville
Methodist Church and a veteran of World War II. He was a retired teacher and a member
of both the Peoples Rural Telephone and the Owsley County Soil Conservation Board. Born
in Clay County, Kentucky on May 5, 1927, he was the son of the late Clarence and Callie
Anderson Combs, and the widower of Irene Frost Combs. He is survived by a brother, Dan
Combs of Oneida, Kentucky; three sisters, Georgia Sharp of Oneida, Margie Bowling of
Danville, Virginia and Evelyn Jackson of Frankfort, Kentucky. He is also survived by
several nieces and nephews. Visitation was held on Monday evening from 5:00 – 9:00 pm
at the Searcy and Strong Funeral Home. Funeral services at 11:00 am on Tuesday at the

Winford Combs, 79, of Drowning Creek Road, Irvine, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007 at his home
after a long illness. He was born March 11, 1928 in Owsley County, the son of the late Chester
and Allison Combs. He was retired from the Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and had lived in
Estill County the last year. He was a member of the Pentecostal church. Survivors in addition
to his wife, Bertha Elizabeth Wolfinbarger Combs, are three sons, Glyndon Combs of Richmond,
Dennis Combs of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Ronnie Combs of Oxford, Ohio; four step-daughters, Nancy
Turner and Brenda Lee Howard, both of Richmond, Joyce Smith of Cambridge, Ind. and Stella
Stenellie of Ft. Myers, Fla.; one brother, Junior Combs of Owsley County; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Wayne Combs; a sister, May Peterson; and four brothers,
Ernest, Will, Stanley and Rufford. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007 at 1 p.m.
at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Rollie Parker with burial at the Winston

Booneville, KY – Butler Congleton, 91, formerly of Lee County, Kentucky,
passed away at the Owsley County Health Care Center in Booneville, Kentucky
on Tuesday, January 10, 2006. Born in Lee County, Kentucky on April 17, 1914,
to the late Enos and Mertie Belle Hall Congleton, he was a retired electrician
and was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Congleton was a member of the Christian
Church. He is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth C. Caudill of Nicholasville,
Kentucky and Nancye C. Stamper of Beattyville, Kentucky; a brother, Luther
P. Congleton, of Booneville, Kentucky; a nephew, John P. West of Beattyville,
Kentucky step-daughters, Faye Gamstetter of Tennessee and Estelle Brock of
Hamilton, Ohio; and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Robinson of Hamilton, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Naomi C. West, Veda C. Brandes,
Clyde C. Congleton, Norman D. Congleton, Russell E. Congleton and Graydon Congleton.

Viola Irene Congleton, 79, of Beattyville, KY, widow of Clyde C. Congleton, passed away
Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Rockcastle Hospital and Respiratory Care Center in Mt.
Vernon. She was born February 17, 1929 in Owsley County, KY, the daughter of Celbert
and Dessie Clem Rowlette. She was a homemaker and member of the Baptist Church.

passed away Monday, January 30, 2006, suddenly, at her residence. Ms. Cornell was

Cope. She was a former factory worker at the K. D. Lamp Company in Cincinnati, Ohio,
and a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Booneville, Kentucky. She
is survived by a brother, Andy Cope, Booneville, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews,
great nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and relatives. Besides her parents
and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Woodrow Cope, a half brother,
Lloyd Allen, four sisters, Cornie Wilson, Elma Gentry, Patience Fox and Mary Gabbard.

Booneville, KY – Ova Cornett, Sr., 75, Highway 28, passed away Wednesday, March
29, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky after a short illness. He was a
member of the Booneville First Baptist Church and a retired construction owner. Mr.
Cornett was a Marine Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the Masonic Lodge #
939 F & AM. A native Owsley Countian, he was born on November 11, 1930 in Owsley Co.,
the son of John & Dora Smith Cornett, and the widower of Peggy Pierson Cornett. He is
survived by a son, Ova (& Sheila) Cornett, Jr. of Booneville, Kentucky; a granddaughter,
Christina Pitts of Richmond, Kentucky; a brother, Larry Cornett of Booneville, Kentucky;
sisters, Helen Rhoades, Virginia Beach, Virginia, Edna McIntosh, Thelma Thompson,
Dorothy McIntosh and Clara Huff, all of Mason, Ohio, and Lois Johnson, Booneville,
Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers,
John Jr. and Jimmy Cornett and two sisters, Ida Helms and Ruby Carmack. Funeral

Mistletoe, KY – A. B. Couch, 75, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2007 at the Kentucky River

the Korean Conflict. He was born in Owsley County on November 7, 1931 to Dewey and

Homer Couch age 78 of Seaman, Ohio died Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at the Adams County
Regional Medical Center. He was born February 6, 1930 on Owsley County, Kentucky the son
of the late Walter and Mary Bishop Couch. Mr. Couch had worked for General Motors for over
30 years. He was the founder and Pastor of the Tranquility Full Gospel Tabernacle in Seaman
and a member of the Eastern Star Masonic Lodge # 55 in Franklin, Ohio. He is survived by his
wife, Mary Rose Burns Couch whom he had married on November 23, 1951 in Jellico, Tennessee,
one daughter. Joan (Jesse) Disher of Seaman, four grandchildren, Evelyn Rose (Charles) Jones,
Jonie Marie (Bobby) Sannan, Jennifer Lynn (Scott) Hargett and Jesse Eugene Disher all of Seaman,

Creech, Glendon
Booneville, KY – Glendon Creech, age 71, of Scoville, KY, passed away Friday, May 9, 2008, at
his residence. Glendon was born Spetember 25, 1936, in Big Sturgeon (Owsley Co.), to the late
Benny and Anna Mae Peters Creech. He was a farmer and carpenter, attended the Scoville Church
of God, and a lifetime resident of Owsley County. He is survived by three sons, Perry L. Creech
of New Buffalo, MI, Paul Wayne Creech of Sextons Creek, KY and Bobby Eugene Creech of Clay
County, KY; three daughters, Teresa L. Miller of Sand Gap, KY, and Hilda F. Smith and Dana L.
Combs, both of Booneville, KY; his special companion, Gelonda Creech of Booneville, KY: 13
grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Other survivors are four sisters, Virginia
Maupin, Anita Rader and Judy Creech, all of McKee, KY and Euna Dalton of Indiana; a brother,
Teddy Ray Creech of McKee, KY; and a host of friends and relatives. Along with his parents,
he was preceded in death by two sons, David Kendall Creech and Terry Lee Creech; and a sister,
Brenda Love. Funeral services were held Monday, May 12, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., at the Booneville

Booneville, KY – Larry Edwin Creech, 30, of Booneville Homes, passed away Sunday, May 6,
2007 at Lerose. Larry was born June 9, 1977, at Manchester, KY, to Donnie Creech of
Primrose, KY and Ernestine Gross Spencer of Murfreesboro, TN. He was a former student
of Owsley County High School and was an avid sports fan. Along with his parents, he is
survived by a son, Joseph Harley Creech; a sister, Renee Sizemore, of Booneville, KY;
his paternal grandmother, Ethel Gross of Booneville, KY; and his maternal grandmother,
Wanda Mae Mays of Beattyville, KY. Also surviving is his fiancée, Angela Tirey; his
stepfather, David Spencer of Murfreesboro, TN; his stepmother, Linda Creech of Primrose,
KY; three half brothers, David Moses Voils of Carrollton, KY, Justin and Shawn Allen
Creech, both of Beattyville, KY; four stepbrothers, Anthony Spencer of Bardstown, KY;
Michael and Robbie Young of IN, and Omar Bawanie; a half-sister, Samantha Hall of
Owenton, KY; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his
grandfathers, Ernest Gross and Joe Creech. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m.,
Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at the Booneville Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Powlas officiating.

Crim, David Gayle
Winchester, KY – David Gayle Crim, 61, husband of Brenda Kendrick Crim, passed away Sunday,
December 2, 2007, at his residence. He was born in Winchester, KY on September 23, 1946,
to the late David T. and Mary Leeseburg Shouse Crim. He was a former employee of the Clark
County School System, and attended the Christ Church of Truth in Winchester, KY. David was
one of the original founding members of the Homer Ledford and the Cabin Creek Band. Along
with his wife of over 41 years, he is survived by a son, Jeffrey Scott (& Jennifer) Crim of
Platt City, MO; a daughter, Jennifer Gayle (& David) Fraley of Stanton, KY; a granddaughter,
Kaitlin Nichole Fraley; and a host of friends and relatives. Funeral services will be at 1:00
p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at the Booneville Funeral Home, with Pastor David Knapp
officiating. Visitation will begin at Noon on Wednesday, until time of service. Interment at
the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Booneville, KY with the Booneville Funeral Home in charge of

Culton, Nannie Brown
Nannie Brown Culton was born on March 26, 1923, in Owsley County, KY, and departed this
life on January 9, 2007 at Berea Hospital. She was the daughter of the late John and
Ophelia Allen Brown. Nannie is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Loranza
“Ranza” Culton of McKee; two sons, Johnny William Culton and his wife, Pamela Witt
Culton of McKee, KY and Douglas Culton and his fiancé, Belinda Waters, of Simpsonville,
KY; one daughter, Ophelia Marie “Opie” Culton of McKee; two grandchildren, Johnathan Joel
Culton and Melissa Michelle Culton Campbell and her husband Steven Campbell, all of
McKee; one great grandchild, Aidan Trey Campbell of McKee and by one sister, Louise
Brown of McKee. In addition to her parents, Nannie was preceded in death by four
brothers; Carlos Brown, Coy Brown, Andy Brown and Elmer Brown; by two sisters, Nora
Creech and Margaret Brown and by one grandson, Shane Culton. Nannie was a member of the
Holiness faith and we feel our loss was truly Heaven’s gain. Funeral services were held
on Friday, January 12, 2007, at the Justice Funeral Home with Rev. Eldon Browning and
Rev. Carlo Davidson officiating. Burial followed in the Reynolds Cemetery at Tyner,
under the direction of Justice Funeral Home. Pallbearers were: Arnold Moore, Ralph
Oliver, Jr., Harold Edwards, Jim Creech, Carl Brown, Greg Browning and Jerry Abner.
