Booneville, KY – Silven Fairchild, 76, of Rt. 1, passed away on January 13, 2010 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Lexington, KY after a long illness. He was a retired minister with the Church of God and a Shriner. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was born on November 8, 1933, in West Liberty, KY to the late Roy and Bessie Brown Fairchild. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lylian Turner Fairchild of Booneville, KY; a son, Jeff (& Vicky) Fairchild of Springfield, OH and a daughter, Tammy Fairchild of Ezel, KY; three grandsons, Shane, Jason & Brock and a granddaughter, Lindsey; six brothers, Edward (& Nancy) Fairchild of Yuma, AZ, Junior Fairchild of Morehead, KY, Vernal (& Maggie) Fairchild of Springfield, OH, Lawrence Fairchild of Ripley, West Virginia, Wilburn (& Barbara) Fairchild of Richmond, Virginia, and James (& Vickie) Fairchild of Batavia, OH; two sisters, Dorothy Baisel, West Liberty, KY and Wilma (& Johnny) Sexton, also of West Liberty, KY. Rev. Fairchild was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ernest; two sister-in-laws, Remona Gay Fairchild and Stella Fairchild; and a great grandson, Alexander. Farthing, Bessie Clarice Yarber

Bessie Clarice Farthing, 83, widow of Howard Farthing, Sr., passed away July 14, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Farthing was born in Owsley County on March 28, 1927 to the late Green and Drury Rowland Yarber. She was of the Baptist faith. Her survivors include five sons; Danny Farthing (Wanda), Ronnie Farthing (Jennifer), Greg Farthing (Karen), Randy Farthing (Sue), Ricky Farthing (Krista), three daughters; Judy Abner, Vickie Harney (Sam), Darlene Carpenter (Gudgell), two daughters-in-law; Margie Farthing, Mary Farthing, one brother; Jesse Yarber, two sisters; Ann Blanton, Geneva Harvey, 23 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Four sons preceded her in death: Carlos, Billy Wayne, Gary and Howard Farthing. Booneville, KY – Louise Gabbard Ferdig, 94, of Route 1, passed away at her residence on Thursday, October 11, 2007 after a long illness. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a retired farmer. The daughter of Isaac Hugh and Elizabeth Eversole Gabbard, she was born on March 9, 1913 in Owsley County. She is survived by a brother, Michael (& wife Marjorie) Gabbard and a sister-in-law, Naomi Gabbard, both of Booneville, KY; also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Eugene, Douglas and Steven; four sisters, Grace, Ida, Nancy and Ruth. Visitation was held Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Searcy and Strong Funeral Home. Funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Joe Powlas officiating. Booneville, KY – Mr. Albert Fields, 68, died Sunday, October 10, 2004 at Kentucky River Medical Center, Jackson, Kentucky following a brief illness. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Born in Owsley County, Kentucky on January 16, 1936, he was the son of the late Robert Albert and Elizabeth Caudill Fields, who preceded him in death. He is survived by three sons, Mr. Bruce Fields and wife Pam of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mr. Robert Fields and wife Linda and Mr. Geoffrey Fields, all of Booneville; two daughters, Mrs. Christine Cherry of Cincinnati, Ohio and Mrs. Lisa Hawkey of Louisville, Kentucky; 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mae Reynolds of Alexandria, Kentucky and Mrs. Amanda Miles of Carrollton, Kentucky; and a special friend and caretaker, Mr. Charles Melley of Booneville, Kentucky. Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Saturday, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Booneville with Father Charles Savarinuthu officiating. FIELDS, Gracie (Combs) age 78 of Morrow, Ohio passed peacefully Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at her home with her family by her side. Born June 13, 1930 in Ricetown, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Sam and Mary (Bowman) Combs and had worked for the Totes Company in Loveland, Ohio, Valley Kitchens in Lebanon, Ohio and Springtime Bulb in Lebanon, Ohio. Gracie was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed flower gardening, sewing (quilting) and ceramics. Preceded in death by her parents, dear husband - Brown Fields in 2004, five brothers - Eugene, Dan, Marion, Edward and John Combs and granddaughter - Casey Renee Fields in July 2008; she is survived by her loving and caring children - Phillip (Rhonda) Fields of Morrow, Ohio, Johnny (Barbara) Fields of Loveland, Ohio, Lillian (Clay) Taylor of Leoma, Tennessee and Veronica (David) Tobler of Pleasant Plain, Ohio; grandchildren - Kristina, Phillip, Brandon, Brian, Tony, Debbie and John Paul Fields, Tonia Taylor-Smith, Diana Langston and Dionn Saylor; fifteen great-grandchildren and many other family members, friends and neighbors. Johnny B. Fields, age 62 of Loveland, Ohio passed peacefully Friday morning, January 1, 2010 at Hospice of Cincinnati with his family by his side. Born March 12, 1947 in Ricetown, Kentucky, he was the son of Brown and Gracie (Combs) Fields and had been a maintenance worker with the Comco Company in Milford, Ohio. Preceded in death by his parents; Johnny leaves behind his loving wife Barbara (Helm) Fields of Loveland, Ohio; sons Johnny Paul and Brian Fields both of Kentucky and Tony Fields of Loveland; daughters Dionne Saylor of Kentucky, Dianna Langston of Lebanon, Ohio and Deborah Fields of Loveland, Ohio; brother Phillip Fields of South Lebanon, Ohio; sisters Lillian Taylor of Tennessee and Veronica Tobler of Blanchester; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Robert was born February 5, 1961, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Albert Junior and Mary Christine Breadon Fields. He was a self-employed carpenter and a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Booneville, KY. Along with his wife of 25 years, he is survived by two sons, Roderick (& Shannon) Fields and Anthony Fields, both of Booneville, KY; six grandchildren; two brothers, Bruce Fields of Cincinnati, Ohio and Geoffrey Fields of Booneville, KY; two sisters, Christine Fields of Virginia and Lisa Hawkey of Hamilton, OH; and a host of relatives and friends. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew. Booneville, KY – Betty Pauline Isaacs Fish, 71, of London, KY, formerly of Owsley Co., KY passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at her daughter’s residence in Terre Haute, IN, due to lung cancer. She was born in Vincent, KY, on June 19, 1937, to the late Henry Siegel and Della Pearl McIntire Isaacs. Betty was a kind person, a great cook, and a dear friend. She was quick to give a gift or a helping hand as needed. She also was a member of the Elk Lick Baptist Church and will be missed by all, and please take comfort in knowing she is at peace. She is survived by a son, Robert Eugene Groves & wife, Irma, of Pikeville, KY; a daughter, Anita Lynn Fish Gabbard, & husband, Jeff of Terre Haute, IN; a sister, Nettie Mae Cole, & husband, Jesse Frederick, of London, KY; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Fish of Richmond, KY; a brother-in-law, Roy Cornett of Bellbrook, OH; and five grandchildren, Scott Freeman, Amanda & Daniel Gabbard, Kayla Groves and Angie Fish. Other survivors include three nieces and two nephews, Mike Synder, Wilma Casenhiser, Judy Cornett, Vicki Six and Jimmy Cole, and her loving pet companion, Jake. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Ernest R. Fish and Paul Groves; three sisters, Martha Helen Cornett, Zula Hazel Hale and Norma Jean Isaacs; a brother, Dewey Isaacs; two sons, Terry Lee and Larry Steven and a grandson, Nathan Groves. Richmond, KY – Terry Lee Fish, 50, of Winesap Drive, died Friday evening, August 11, 2006, at the Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center. Mr. Fish was born in Hamilton, Ohio on June 22, 1956, the son of the late Earnest R. Fish and Betty Isaacs Fish. He was self-employed Master Carpenter and also worked for Roger Lashbrook. He loved fishing, furniture building, and hot rods. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Ramsey Fish; a daughter, Angela Fish of Oklahoma; three step-sons, Shirley Haddix and Shane Haddix of Richmond, and David Blake of Benton, Arkansas; a brother, Robert E. Groves (Irma J.) of Pikeville, Kentucky; a sister, Anita Gabbard (Jeff) of Terrehaute, Indiana; and his father-in-law, Shirley Ramsey. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Fish was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Steven Fish. SPRINGFIELD, IL - Charles Elwood "Elmo" Flannery, 69, of Springfield, died at 12:35 a.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2009. Charles was born January 24, 1940, in Travellers Rest, KY, the son of Martin and Irene Robinson Flannery. He married Janet Kay Crummett on September 19, 1964, in Farmer City; she preceded him in death. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Vietnam. He operated a dry cleaning business until his retirement in 2001. He is also preceded in death by his father; a son, Greg Flannery; a sister, Carol Flannery; and a niece; Vicky Allen. He was a self employed laborer, and a member of the Abundant Life Church in Beattyville, KY. Besides his parents, he is survived by his son, Daniel Scott Corbett Freeman, Beattyville, KY, his maternal grandmother, Naomi Calvert, and paternal step grandfather, Chuck Calvert, both of Heidelberg, KY; three sisters, Melissa Rose Freeman Riley and Jessica Hope Freeman, both of Beattyville, KY, and Angela Dawn Murrell of Booneville, KY; his girlfriend, Natasha Patrick; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, friends, family and loved ones. Jeremiah was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Corbett and Rosie Mullins, his paternal grandfather, Billy Freeman, Sr., two brothers, Randell Scott Freeman and Ronnie Paul Herald; and a sister, Debra Kay Herald. Frye, Ottis E.

Booneville, KY – Ottis Elsworth Frye, 89, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at his residence. Ottis was born November 18, 1918 in Owsley County, KY, to the late Pete Mallard and Mattie Gentry Frye. He was a former factory employee in Dayton, OH, and a U. S. Army veteran, having served in WW II. Survivors include four nephews, Harold, Kenneth and Pete Frye and Donald Bruce Barker, and a host of relatives and friends. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ora Barker and Lotis Mason; and two brothers, Harlan and Lorin Frye. Fugate, Wilson E. "Jay"

Wilson E. "Jay" Fugate, 72, husband of Lida Lutes Fugate, passed into eternity Tue, Oct. 31, 2006 at the Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph Hospital. Born in Booneville, KY, he was the eldest son of the late Wilson Fugate and Daisy Mainous. Jay was a loving husband and father of two. He was a retired Square D employee where he was affectionately known as "Popeye", an Army veteran having served in Korea, and a member of The Rock (La Roca) United Methodist Church. Survivors other than his wife are a son, Mark (Abby) Fugate of Georgetown, KY; a daughter, Janne Fugate and one granddaughter, Dharma Elizabeth of Shelby, NC; and three brothers, Bruce, Marce and Bob Fugate.
