Elizabeth Moore Hall, 68, of Brookstown Rd., wife of Lenville Hall, died Thursday February 1, 2007, in Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center. Elizabeth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a native of Owsley County, a housewife and member of the Stoney Run Baptist Church. Other than her husband, Lenville Hall, she is survived by: three sons, Lyndale "Bud" Hall, Timothy (Carolyn) Hall, both of Richmond, and Jonathan (Theresa) Hall of Powell County; three daughters, Linda Hall Brumagen, Debra Hall and Janet (Garry) Johnson, all of Richmond; two brothers, Everett Moore and Jackie Lee (Judy) Moore, three sisters, Anna (Billy) Stokley, Ethel Marie (Logan) Cody and Bonnie (William) Cody; 11 grandchildren ; stepchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Dora Marshall Moore; one son Michael Wayne Hall; one brother; Joseph Moore; and two sisters, Rose Lee Cruse and Margie Estes. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, February 5, 2007, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Neal Prather officiating. Burial will follow in Cobb Hill Cemetery. Hall, Rissie Seale

Norwood, Ohio Rissie Seale Hall, 96 of 1780 Clenacy St., passed away at her residence on October 30, 2006, after a long illness. Born in Owsley County on February 26, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Walker and Deba J. Elkins Seale and the widow of Clint Hall. She was a retired factory worker and homemaker. She is survived by a brother, Thomas Seale of Booneville, Kentucky and a sister, Emma Hall of Norwood, Ohio, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the Searcy and Strong Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Seale officiating. Hall, Sam

Booneville, OH – Sam Hall, age 88 of Hamilton, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton at Sunrise on Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 2:35 PM. He was born in Owsley County, Kentucky on February 5, 1918 the son of James and Addie (Noble) Hall. Sam was employed as a carpenter at Pease for 28 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Four Square Pentecostal Church. On December 25, 1936 in Wolf(e) County, Kentucky he married Rosalyn Elkins who preceded him in death in 1996. Sam is survived by two sons, Darrell Hall and his wife Karen and Michael Hall and his wife Phyllis, both of Hamilton; three daughters, Loretta Hanger and her husband James of Greencastle, Indiana, Kathleen Baker and her husband Boyce, and Marcell Hall, both of Hamilton; twenty grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald Hall; eight brothers, Albert, Letcher, Kelly, Johnny, Dewey, Willie, Price, and Bergon; and five sisters, Lizzie Campbell, Rosie Murphy, Bertha Hardy, Myrtle Witt, and Ella Monroe. Funeral service will be held at Brown-Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Sidney Sparks officiating. Booneville, KY – William J. "Bill" Hamilton, 84, husband of Ruth Botner Hamilton, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born March 25, 1921 in Owsley County, Kentucky, to the late Lester and Nellie Isabelle Mainous Hamilton. He was a former mining clerk for Pendeltons, a truck driver for Gulf Oil Company, a lifetime resident of Owsley County and a deacon of the Rock Springs Primitive Baptist Church, Green Hall, Kentucky. Along with his wife of 65 years, he is survived by a son, Donald (& Sandra) Hamilton of Springboro, Ohio; a daughter, Maria (& Dick) Edwards of Booneville, Kentucky; two sisters, Virginia Begley of Booneville, Kentucky and Bonnie Faye Enos of West Chester, Ohio; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives. As well as his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Wendell Hamilton; four brothers, Ralph, Russell, Donald and Paul Hamilton; and a sister, Ruby Drake. Booneville, KY - Maxine Callahan Harris, 49, of the Owsley County Health Care Center, passed away Monday, March 5, 2007, at Memorial Hospital in Manchester, KY. Maxine was born March 12, 1957, in London, KY to Frances Conrad Callahan of Booneville, KY and the late Frank Callahan. She was a former Medical Secretary, homemaker, enjoyed bingo and the church services at the nursing home, and was an avid UK basketball fan. Along with her mother, she is survived by a son, Billy Joe(Whitney) Bowling and Brittany Purdue, both of Booneville, KY, and Shannon (James) Combs of Beattyville, KY; and five grandchildren, Brionna and Jessica Johnson, Bryan Combs, and Adrienne and Raye-Anne Hobbs. Booneville, KY – Bonnie Carol Havicus, 62, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at the Hospice Care Center in Lexington, KY. Bonnie was born July 15, 1944, in Owsley County, KY, to the late Geneva Moore and Ralph Victors. She was a homemaker and a member of the Levi Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Joe (& Judy) Havicus of Beattyville, KY and Freddie Caudill of Lexington, KY; and a daughter, Sandy (& James) Hall of Lexington, KY; six grandchildren, Michael, Jerimiah, and Ethan Havicus, Anthony Cope, and Cierra and James Hall, Jr.; and a host of relatives and friends. Helton, James Glenn

James Glenn Helton, 76, passed away on March 11, 2008, in Naples, FL after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Glenn was born in Ricetown, KY, son of Joe and Ellen Helton. He graduated from Eastern KY University with degrees in business administration and education. Later he worked as a special education teacher at Roosevelt and Roth High Schools in Dayton, OH for 26 years. Glenn proudly served in the United States Navy as 1st Class Petty Officer during the Korean conflict. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen, and sons John Michael and James Matthew as well as his sisters Adeline Duff and Shirley Duff and many nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Funeral services will be held at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home on March 17, 2008 at 10:30 AM. Final internment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery. Hensley, Henry C.

Henry C. Hensley, 86, of Glades Street in Berea passed away on Wednesday Nov. 5, 2003 at the Winchester Health and Rehabilitation Hospice Unit. Mr. Hensley was born in Owsley County to the late Fielding H. and Nancy Fowler Hensley. He is a veteran of the US Army, served in WWII and received a Purple Heart and Bronze star for his service. He is also retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot. Henry is survived by his wife Ritha Ann Carter Hensley, one sister Rose H. Rose of Canton, N.C.; one brother Fielding Hensley Jr. of Houston, Tx and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. at the Berea United Methodist Church on Fee Street in Berea on Saturday Nov. 8, 2003 with Rev. Charles Bertrand and Rev. Valerie Johnson officiating. Booneville, KY – Herschel Hensley, 82, of Route 2, passed away suddenly from a stroke on Sunday, September 2, 2007 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY. He was a deacon since 1991 of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church (and a member since 1950). He was a veteran of World War II and was retired from the Dover Corporation of Cincinnati, Ohio. Mr. Hensley was born in Owsley County, KY on May 16, 1925 to the late Chester and Pearl Taylor Hensley. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Becknell Hensley of Route 2, Booneville, KY; a daughter, Shirley (& Jerry) Wilson, Cincinnati, Ohio; a granddaughter, Sheri (& Brad) Jones, Batavia, OH; two great grandchildren, Julianna Jones and Tyler Jones, both of Batavia; a brother, Rolfes (& Virginia) Hensley of Crescent Springs, KY; two sisters, Nellie DeHart of Norwood, OH and Opal Hudson of Walton, KY. Hess, Mary Amis Bowling

HESS, Mary Amis Bowling, 87, of Mason, died Thursday March 27, 2008. Born March 6, 1921 in Booneville, KY to Andrew and Haney (nee: Mayes) Amis, she was a manager of Whiting Sewing Company, a waitress supervisor at the Cincinnati Country Club, worked as a reporter for the Warren County Reporter for many years and worked in the Meijer Meat Department until she was 80. She was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Community Church, the Ohio Republican Party, OES, Maineville Garden Club, and the Warren County Beekeeper’s Association. Preceded in death by her parents, her step mother, Easter Nobel, and husband, Frank E. Hess, survivors include three sons, John (Deb) Hess, Andrew (Donna) Bowling and Chester (Elizabeth) Bowling, one daughter, Sue (Bruce) Burgess, one step son, Morgan (Linda) Hess, one step daughter, Shirley (Jim) Weeks, two brothers, Alvin and Andy Amis, four sisters, Zola Harris, Bertha Johnson, Violet Harris, and Lindy Wilder, eight grandchildren, John Jr and Kevin Hess, Robert Murray, David, Mark, and Stephen Bowling, and Patrick and Matthew Burgess. Hieronymus, Pauline Tackett

HIERONYMUS, Pauline Age 88 of Morrow passed peacefully Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at Bethesda North Hospital. Born December 21, 1918 in Vincent, Kentucky, the daughter of Leonard and Chloie (Gabbard) Tackett, she had lived in Morrow for over 60 years. A loving mother and grandmother, she had a significant influence in the lives of her grandchildren and great- grandchildren as they enjoyed staying with her and later caring for her at her home. She retired from the Walker Pharmacy in Morrow following 25 years of employment there, and had earlier worked at the Remington Arms Co. and Auto Lite. A devoted member and former officer of the Morrow United Methodist Church, she was also a member of the Morrow Garden Club and the Morrow Mother's Club and loved the game of golf. Preceded in death by her parents and dear husband Fay Hieronymus, she is survived by loving daughter Julia Hayes of Morrow, devoted grandchildren Tina Davis of Morrow and Lorri Buckler of South Lebanon, and loving great- grandchildren Cassandra, Connor and Caleb Davis and Corey, Trent and Blayne Buckler; and sister Aline (Beige) Asher of Corbin, Kentucky. Hill, Howard E. "Shorty"

Richmond, IN – Howard E. "Shorty" Hill, 83, a lifelong resident of Connersville, went home to be with the Lord Thursday afternoon, April 27, 2006, surrounded by his family at Reid Hospital, Richmond. He was born in Major, Owsley County, Ky., July 7, 1922, to Preston and Pearl Judd Hill. He was raised by his grandmother, Nancy Jane Combs Hill, on a farm in Kentucky. In 1942, he moved to Dayton, Ohio, where his mother lived. He relocated to Connersville in 1946 and was employed at Davidson Enamel. On July 11, 1952, he was married in Rushville to the former Berynce M. Selke Cash, who died Feb. 20, 2005. In 1985, he retired from the lab at Stant Manufacturing after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Faith Trinity United Methodist Church of Richmond and was a former member of the East Side United Methodist Church in Connersville. His other memberships included Warren Lodge 15 F. & A.M., Connersville Chapter 346 Order of the Eastern Star and a 55-year member of the Loyal Order of the Moose 1160. "Shorty" was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, traveling and hunting. He most enjoyed working year round at Roehler's Christmas Tree Farm in Fayette County where he was a great asset. Survivors include his daughter, Claudette Cash Wissler, Richmond, with whom he had made his home; two grandchildren and their spouses, Gary and Roberta Wissler of Cambridge City, Ginny and Scott Roehler of Centerville; four great-grandchildren, Sandy Wissler Isaacs, Sara Wissler Wall, Kyle and Tyler Roehler; three great-great-grandsons, Dylan and Dakota "Kody" Isaacs, Jackson Wall; a brother, Bruce "Elmo" Hill of Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Madlyn Haddux of Dayton, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. His parents; grandmother; wife; a special uncle, Henry Hill; and a brother, Raymond Douglas Hill preceded him in death. Hodges, Nancy Campbell

Mrs. Nancy Campbell Hodges, 69, of McKee, formerly of Owsley County, passed away May 22, 2001, at Berea Hospital in Berea following a brief illness. Mrs. Hodges was born Jan. 1, 1932 in Owsley County; the daughter of the late Edward and Lela Garrett Campbell. She was a bookkeeper, secretary and a member of the Lutheran Church. She is survived by two sons, Mr. Edward C. (Kathy) Hodges and Mr. William T. Hodges, both of McKee; one daughter, Mrs. Leila Hodges (Eddie) Agee of Richmond; two grandsons, Jake Coffey and Rodney Agee, both of Richmond; one great-grandson, Jason Tyler Agee of Richmond; and one sister, Mrs. Edith Johnson of Jonesboro, Tenn. Holcomb, Earle

Earle Holcomb, 85, of Middletown, died Sunday, October 21, 2007, at University Hospital. He was born in Booneville, Kentucky on March 31, 1922 to parents Henry and Susan (Napier) Holcomb. Mr. Holcomb worked for Armco Steel Corp for 38 years, retiring in 1983. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Earle is survived by his two children, Gale Holcomb and Alan (Jean) Holcomb; one grandson, Brian Holcomb; special extended family, Jennifer Reid and Judy Jarvis; as well as many other loving friends & family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann (Albano) Holcomb; his parents; and four sisters. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at 10:00 AM at WILSON-SCHRAMM-SPAULDING FUNERAL HOME, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. (at Bonita Dr.), Middletown. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery. Honaker, Ethel Gabbard Sandlin

Ethel (Sandlin) Honaker – Age 69 of South Lebanon, Ohio passed peacefully Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at Cedars of Lebanon with her family by her side. Born February 25, 1937 in Owsley Co., Kentucky, she was the daughter of Shelby and Bethel (Gilbert) Gabbard and was a homemaker and mother of seven children. Preceded in death by her parents, dear husband, Jerry Honaker, one daughter-in-law, Tracy Johnson, two brothers, Hubert and Eulas Gabbard, two sisters, Inez Doughman and Mildred Spicer; she is survived by her children, sons Jerry Ray (Lula) Sandlin of Morrow, Robert (Pauline) Sandlin of Morrow and Rocky Sandlin of South Lebanon; daughters Sandra (Don) Wallace of Germantown, Patty (Daniel) Comley of Miamisburg, Tonya (Dallas) Hensley of Oregonia and Lesia (Matt) Sandlin of South Lebanon; brothers Hershel Gabbard of Morrow and Estil Gabbard of South Lebanon; 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Calling hours Monday, November 6, 2006 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Stine Kilburn Funeral Home of Lebanon. Funeral services at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Matt Morgan officiating. Huff, Carlous

Carlous Huff, age 81 of South Lebanon passed peacefully July 26, 2006 at Lebanon Country Manor. Born March 27, 1925 in Ricetown, Kentucky, he was the son of William B. and Edin (Dove) Huff. Carlous was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a retired painter from the LeBlonde Company. Preceded in death by his parents, his dear wife Toni Huff, one son - Roy Huff and one daughter, Wanda Huff, he is survived by his four brothers - Brown Huff of Batavia, Ohio, Edwin Huff of South Lebanon, Ben Huff of Boone County, Ky. and Chester Huff of Cold Springs, Ky.; two sisters - Emily Gipson of London, Ky. and Wanda Sizemore of Florence, Alabama; two grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and dear firends. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 29, 2006 at the First Baptist Church of South Lebanon with Pastor Mike Howell officiating. Burial was in the Deerfield Cemetery. Hundley, Joyce

Booneville, KY - Joyce L. Postlehwait Hundley, 52, of the Island City community, formerly of Connersville, IN, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2005 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY. She was born December 19, 1952 in Marion County West Virginia, to Robert and Ann Barker Postlethwait of Wooster, OH. She was a former employee of the Philco Ford Company of Connersville, IN and attended the Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 29 & ˝ years, Charles Hundley of Island Creek (Owsley Co.); three sons, Jeremy (& Jennifer) Hundley of Scoville (Owsley Co.), Ted Hundley of Booneville, KY and Dallas (& Terry) Hundley of Jackson Co., KY; two stepsons, Jason Hundley of Laurel, IN and Charles Hundley, Jr. of Connersville, IN; two stepdaughters, Bernice Maxie of Laurel, IN and Mary Hundley of Island Creek; three sisters, Judy Coy of Savannah, OH, Donna Daughtery of Wooster, OH and Sue Postlewait of Virginia; 15 grandchildren; a great grandchild and a host of friends and relatives. Graveside services were held Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hundley Cemetery on Island Creek with Wayne Griffee officiating. The Booneville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
