Billy Charles Jackson, 72, of Lexington, husband of Sue (Bowman) Jackson,
peacefully passed away, Sat, June 23, 2007. He was born Sept 27, 1934, in Pebworth, KY,
to the late Carlo and Nettie Jackson. Along with his wife of 38 years, he is survived by
2 sons, Billy Dale Jackson of Indianapolis, IN, and Steve (Beth) Brockman of Lexington;
1 daughter, Lori (Mark) Decker of Philmont, NY; 8 grandchildren, Billy and Samantha
Jackson, Josh, Ashley, Lauren, and Abby Brockman, Nick and Riley Decker; and 1 great
grandson, Brayden Jackson. Also surviving are 2 sisters, Dixie Miller and Loretta
(Clyde) Ramey both of Lexington; sisters-in-law, Ruby Jackson of Pebworth, KY, and
Yvonne Jackson of Nicholasville, KY; many loving nephews & nieces, and his little
buddy Jake. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Irvine, Earl Glen, and James Donald
Jackson, and 2 sisters, Maxine Tirey and Lois Frost. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran having
served in the Korean Conflict, a Master Plumber, HVAC/Boiler Inspector, and Journeyman
Electrician by trade. Bill was a loving husband, father, & grandfather who enjoyed quiet
time with his family. His blue eyes and grin will never be forgotten. Funeral services
will be Tue, June 26, 2007, at 2pm, at the Booneville Funeral Home, with Pastor Brenda
Davis officiating. Visitation will be Mon evening, at the funeral home, from 6- 9pm.
Burial in the Combs Cemetery, Pebworth, KY, with the Booneville Funeral Home in charge

Jackson, Margaret "Mimi" Gabbard McIntosh
Booneville, KY – Margaret “Mimi” Jackson, age 95, passed away Friday, April
15, 2008 at the Owsley County Health Care Center in Booneville, Kentucky. Formerly of Cow
Creek and Booneville, she was born on April 5, 1913, in Owsley County, KY to the late
Stephen A. and Flora (Seale) Gabbard. Margaret was a retired school teacher for the Owsley
County School System and a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the First
Presbyterian Church in Booneville, KY. Mrs. Jackson is survived by a son, Jimmy (& Teresa)
McIntosh of Lawrenceburg, KY, a daughter, Margaret Sue Gabbard of Ricetown, KY; nine
grandchildren, several great grandchildren; a great, great granddaughter; and a host of
friends and relatives. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands,
Henderson McIntosh and Eugene Jackson; a son, Bill McIntosh; a daughter, Laura Elizabeth
McIntosh; three sisters and a brother. Funeral services held on Sunday, April 20, 2008,
at 2:00 p.m. at the Booneville Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Powlas officiating. Visitation
held on Sunday at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 noon until time of service. Interment
at the Shepherd Memorial Cemetery, Booneville, KY, with the Booneville Funeral Home in charge
of arrangements. Pallbearers were Chris McIntosh, Jimmy McIntosh, Ronnie Gabbard, Stephen

Booneville – Nettie B. Stepp Jackson, 100, widow of Carlo
Jackson, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2006, at her daughter’s residence in
Lexington, KY. Mrs. Jackson was born November 26, 1905, in Lerose, KY, to the
late Joseph and Emmer Smith Stepp. She was a homemaker, formerly active in the
Owsley County Senior Citizens Program, the Saddle Club, a member of the Eastern
Star, and had attended the Church on the Farm. She is survived by one son, Bill
and Sue Jackson, of Lexington, KY; 2 daughters, Loretta and Clyde Ramey and Dixie
Miller, both of Lexington, KY; 19 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 10 great,
great, grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Along with her parents
and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 sons, Irvine, Earl Glen and James Donald
Jackson; 2 daughters, Maxine Tirey and Deloris Farris; 1 grandchild; 1 great
grandchild; 6 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral services will be Sunday, June 11, 2006
at 2:00 p.m. at the Booneville Funeral Home with Reverend Randell Amburgy officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Burial
in the Combs Cemetery, Pebworth, KY with the Booneville Funeral Home in charge of

Johnson, Johnny R.
McKee, KY – Johnny R. Johnson was born on June 29, 1942, in Jackson County,
KY and departed this life on February 7, 2007, at the Central Baptist Hospital in
Lexington, KY, at the age of 64. He was the son of the late Oscar and Dovie Sparks
Johnson. He is survived by two children, Travis Johnson of Booneville, KY and Tonya
Johnson of Lexington, KY; seven grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters,
Leo Johnson of South Carolina, James Johnson of North Carolina, Carl Tincher of Richmond,
KY, Cora Tincher of South Carolina and Rita Hutchison of Texas. He was a member of the
Church of Christ in Lee County, and we feel our loss is truly Heaven’s gain. Funeral
services held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, February 12, 2007 at the Justice Funeral Home Chapel
with Rev. L. C. Moore officiating. Burial followed in the Johnson Family Cemetery in
Lee County, under the direction of the Justice Funeral Home. Booneville Sentinel March

Johnson, Sylvia Barrett
Booneville, KY – Sylvia Barrett Johnson, 68, Owsley County Health Care Center,
passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Health Care Center after a long illness. She
was a homemaker and a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. She was born in Owsley County
on November 19, 1939 to Sam B. and Mary Toler Barrett. She was the widow of Bruce Johnson. She
is survived by a son, Samuel Johnson, two daughters, Sandy Lynn Johnson and Cassandra Johnson, all
of Booneville, KY; a grandson Jordan Green of Booneville; a granddaughter, Deanna Brown of South
Carolina; two great granddaughters; four sisters, Eudella Carmack, Bessie Gabbard and Diane Barrett,
all of Booneville, and Emma Barrett of Ohio; three brothers, James and Danny Barrett of Booneville
and Earl Barrett of Florence, KY; and several relatives and friends. Sylvia was preceded in death
by her parents, Sam and Mary Barrett; her husband, Bruce Johnson; a son, Gary Lee Barrett; a brother,
Mark Barrett; and two sisters, Brenda and Loretta Barrett. Funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Sunday,
February 3, 2008 at the Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Weglick officiating. Burial
in the Barrett Family Cemetery with Searcy and Strong Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Johnson, Virgil
RICHMOND – Virgil Johnson, 81, of Hoover Lane, passed
away Saturday evening, March 25, 2006, at his home. Born in Owsley County,
Kentucky, on January 19, 1925, he was the son of the late George and Nellie
Anderson Johnson. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Union City Baptist
Church. Until his health failed, Mr. Johnson was a regular fixture on the
roads around Union City, where he enjoyed picking up cans and meeting friends
along the way. He is survived by: his wife, Effie Mae Willis Johnson; two
sons, Jimmie Cecil Johnson of Madison County and Virgil Johnson, Jr. and his
wife Christine of Versailles; one daughter, Betty Lou Brandenburg and her
husband David of Madison County; four grandchildren, Todd Aaron Brandenburg
of Louisville, Alan Scott Brandenburg, serving in the U. S. Navy, and Paige
Nicole Johnson and Andrea Michelle Johnson, both of Versailles; one brother,
Hubert Johnson of Estill County; two sisters, Clare Crowe and Edna Rucker
and her husband, John Noland Rucker, all of Estill County. He was preceded
in death by four brothers and five sisters. Funeral services will be conducted
at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral
Home with the Rev. Rick Brown and the Rev. W. R. Smith officiating. Burial
will follow in Madison Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 tonight
at Combs, Parsons Collins Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Virgil Johnson
Jr., David Brandenburg, Pat Martin, Kenneth Brinegar, Billy Wagers, Glen Rucker
and Ken Brinegar. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult 3 Sunday
School class of the Union City Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations
