Booneville, KY – Elmer Taylor, Jr., 25, Ricetown, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2007, at the Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson, KY. He was born March 29, 1981 in Manchester, KY to Elmer and Kay Deaton Taylor of Ricetown, KY. He was a 1999 graduate of Owsley County High School, a construction worker and enjoyed collecting arrowheads. Along with his parents, he is survived by a brother, Travis Taylor, of Lexington, KY; his paternal grandmother, Mollie Taylor of Booneville, KY; his paternal grandfather, Albert Deaton, of Booneville, KY; and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Bonnie Deaton. Funeral services were held on February 22, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Booneville Funeral Home, with Rev. L. C. Easterling officiating. Visitation was held on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 9:00 at the funeral home. Mollie (Abshear) Taylor, 69, of Booneville, KY passed away Friday, May 30, 2008 at the Owsley County Health Care Center in Booneville, KY. Mollie was born January 11, 1939 at Indian Creek, Owsley County, KY, to the late Ike and Goldie (Wilder) Abshear. She was a former homemaker while enjoying quilting, fishing, and gardening and attended the Presbyterian Church. Booneville, KY – Clara Jane Terry, age 93, widower of Wesley Terry, passed away Friday, January 27, 2006, at the Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson, Kentucky. She was born in Owsley County, Kentucky on September 27, 1912. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Addie Bowling Bowman. She was a homemaker, an active church worker, and enjoyed gardening and quilting. She is survived by four sons, Robert (& Agnes) Terry and Harold (& Judy) Terry, both of Booneville, Kentucky, James (& Judy) Terry of Lexington, Kentucky and Larry (& Nadine) Terry of Middletown, Ohio; a daughter, Pauletta (& Fred) Mularz of Lerose, Kentucky; a sister, Marie Cox of South Lebanon, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Callie B. Moore Thomas, widow of Walter Thomas, of Beattyville, KY, passed away Monday, May 19, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Stay, KY, the daughter of H. W. and Mary Jane (Brandenburg) Moore. She was a homemaker after teaching in Lee and Owsley County for three years. She was a member of the Booneville Presbyterian Church. Survivors are one daughter, Gloria Almeda Thomas of Beattyville, KY; sister, Minnie Moore Ray of Winona Lake, IN; and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Newnam Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Bryant officiating. Fairfield, Ohio – Cora Mae Dean Taylor Thomas, age 87, formerly of Owsley County, widow of Elwood Taylor, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2005, at Tri County Extended Care Center in Fairfield, Ohio. She was born in Booneville, Kentucky on January 22, 1918, to the late Colson and Nan Miller Dean. She was a former restaurant owner in Booneville, a homemaker, and attended the Millville Avenue First Church of God in Hamilton, Ohio. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Ann Mainous of Fairfield, Ohio and Betty Burch of Cincinnati, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Other survivors are three brothers, Bill Dean of Hamilton, Ohio, Taylor Dean of Oxford, Ohio and Russell Dean; two sisters, Jerrie Sandlin of Booneville, Kentucky and Gloria Dean of Hamilton, Ohio; and a host of relatives and friends. Along with her parents, and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Bob Taylor; two sisters; and two brothers. MORNING VIEW - Bradley Tirey, 84, died Saturday at Florence Park Care Center.He was a mechanic for Chapman's Auto Repair, a World War II Army veteran who earned two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was born October 19, 1988 to Noel Thurman and Lois Charlene Bennett Turner. He was honored on Friday, January 21, 2005 as a 2005 graduate of Owsley County High School. Jason loved baseball and was a pitcher for the Owsley County Owls. He was a part-time employee for Barrett’s Trustworthy Hardware. Along with his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Nicholas Todd Turner and Lucas Justin Turner, his maternal grandfather, Pearl Bennett, all of Booneville, Kentucky; and a host of friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Linda Bennett; paternal grandparents, Roy and Edna Riley Turner; and three uncles. Alexandria, KY – Rosa Sebastian Turner, 71, widow of Earl Turner, formerly of Owsley County, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2005 at the St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit in Covington, Kentucky. She was born in Owsley County on July 25, 1933 to the late Elvin and Lucy McIntosh Sebastian. She was a retired housekeeper for Carmel Manor in Newport, Kentucky, a homemaker, and a member of the New Macedonia Regular Baptist Church in Newport, Kentucky. Survivors include two sons, Jeff (& Paula) Turner of Alexandria, Kentucky and James (& Becky) Turner of Dayton, Kentucky; a daughter, Cathy (& Charlie) Mayes of Booneville, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Other survivors are three brothers, Kelly (& Nancy) Sebastian and Bill (& Ethel) Sebastian, both of Booneville, Kentucky and Joe (& Addie) Sebastian of Aurora, Indiana; her dear friend, Irene Mayes of Booneville, Kentucky and a host of friends and relatives. Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lana McIntosh; a sister, Malvery Jennings; and a daughter-in-law, Janet Combs Turner. Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 13, 2005 at 1:00 pm at the Booneville Funeral Home with Pastor Patrick Turner officiating. Visitation was held on Saturday evening at the funeral home from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. Burial in the Warren G. Turner, Savannah Paige

Beattyville, KY - Savannah Paige Turner, 10, of Lee County, KY, passed away Monday, January 22, 2007, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, KY. Savannah was born on June 25, 1996, in Lexington, KY to Michael and Nancy Sue Brandenburg Turner. She was a student at Beattyville Southside Elementary School and attended the Pentecostal Workers Church in Clayhole, KY. Along with her parents, she is survived by her twin sister, Cheyenne Nicole Turner; her younger sister Rebekah Rose Turner; and a brother, Cody Wayne Turner; all of Beattyville, KY. Other survivors include her paternal grandparents, Walter and Virgie Turner of Booneville, KY; her maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Gross of Beattyville, KY; and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Earl and Reba Brandenburg. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at the Booneville Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Turner and Pastor Clyde and Ruth Kilburn officiating. Visitation on Tuesday evening at the funeral home, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Burial in the Turner Cemetery, Fred Brandenburg Rd., Beattyville, KY, with the Booneville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
